QWAK,I came across this when looking foe how to make your own ROOT BEER and thought perhaps others may be interisted and just want to save this as refrernce information.

Interesting site. I wish there were long shelf life yeast packets. It's alive and does not keep long as I understand it. (I know very little.) But assorted yeasts do so many things from cider to beer to sourdough to champagne. And other microbe cultures make yogurt.

Especially good microbes for various purposes have been fed and kept going and used for centuries, but having some on hand that are viable when you need them has not been something I have yet figured out. (Without using them regularly now.)

For example, dry milk is awful tasting to me, but yogurt made from it delish. But I don't want to make yogurt regularly now, and I think the culture has a pretty short shelf life, even refrigerated.

Sassafras root. I love the smell of Sassafras. I had no idea it was used to make ecstasy though. Just crushing the leaf between your fingers is ecstasy enough for me. Anyway, it's the basis for root beer and sasparillo.

For this reason, its sale is monitored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. In some deep rural regions it was a popular additive to moonshine, and may still be.

QWAK,RealJack,I got achers of Sassafras it grows so fast and is almost imposable to kill but I understand the harvested root is expencive to buy.

Not shure how but I think I could be siting on a potential way to make $$$?:dontknow:

I think I would prefer a SILVER mine but IF the money is right Sassafras could do and it is RENEWABLE! :s9:

The FDA has banned Sassafras? Well, I guess starting up an International Distribution Center on your property is out of the question.

It might be more likely the DEA storms your property and throws you in jail for growing that illegal weed.

Jeesh, I just do a little search on the browser to find some interesting folk wisdom and come to find out "Gold Duck" may be a law breaking criminal.

Sorry man, I didn't mean to rat you out. I guess a silver mine is still your best bet, unless you're interested in getting involved in the black market.:emotions16:

Note: You may have heard that sassafras has been banned by the Food and (FDA) because it causes cancer. Drug Administration. Huge quantities have given to rats over look periods of time give the rodents cancer because they change the molecule sassafrole into a cancer-causing one. Humans don�t do this, and no one has ever gotten sick from sassafras. Sassafras was banned because there are a lot of rats in the FDA!

QWAK,RealJack,I supose there comes a time in all our lives when we MUST decide for our selves if a LAW is just so STUPID and based on IGNORENCE and even some GREED that we in ALL GOOD CONCIENCE can and perhaps even SHOULD break that LAW because IF for no other reason than, it's just the RIGHT THING to do!

So I am going to let all that Sassafras keep growing (mostly because I could not keep it from growing any way) and should they bust me AGEN like they did for my medical pot:smokin: I will just pay the fine like I did that time and LAUGH at THEM being SOooooooooooooooo SILLY! :banana: :cool2:
